“Which trait would you like your child(ren) to learn from you and/or your husband or partner?”

“I actually pray every night for my children to learn to be compassionate and non judgmental.  I am very accepting and open-minded, while their father is not so much.  Rigid, conservative, “tolerant”.

I hope they learn his skills with budgeting both money and time, because they don’t get that from me.” (more…)

Amy Hillis of Ohio, USA writes: 
“My dad used to restore old gumball machines and he would let me sit at his work bench and help. He would give me little jobs and let me use his tools and paints to make my own ‘creations’.

I realize now that he helped encourage my creativity and provided an escape for me when things with my mother were rough.

My dad is still around, but lives 400 miles away- I still miss doing ‘projects’ with him.”

NEW JERSEY, USA: Technology: Good or Bad?

It’s 3:30pm. My youngest son of five and I have just piled through the front door, bags of groceries in my hands and his lunch tin in his. He scrambles off to the kitchen, and the first thing he does is to not look for a snack. Instead, he starts playing a game on my computer at the corner of our kitchen.

3, 2, 1…There it is: “Can someone please turn on mom’s computer for me?”, he yells, banging his fists on my desk. There is something wrong with this picture, I realize. (more…)
