ISRAEL: A Moment of Clarity & Understanding

ISRAEL: A Moment of Clarity & Understanding

Girl on swing

After attending the Israeli Presidential Conference last week, Susie Newday of New Day, New Lesson woke up today with these gorgeous words flowing from her head. Her internal call to understanding, a mother’s call to inner peace and acceptance. We just had to post them today because they are moving and amazing! Read on…

“There Comes a Moment”

There comes a moment
a moment in your life
when you stop to ponder
the truths in your living and life.

That moment that is bought on
by something big or something small.
By love or by hate
or just a feeling that there is more.

Something happens or
maybe someone touches your heart
in a way that makes you wonder
what is truly important in your life.

You find yourself  scanning
the years of your life,
and you say to yourself,

“Does this really matter,
is this adding meaning and purpose to my life?”

And it hurts to acknowledge, even to yourself,
how much time and energy
you have wasted and waste
pursuing people, things and ideals not your own.

And it disgusts you to think
of all the hurt you have caused.
It upsets you to remember
how often you have not forgiven or forgotten.

And there is a soft gentle shift
in your heart, soul and stance.
You feel changed, you want change
but how do you become and live that change?

It is in that moment
that your thinking becomes forever altered
and your perceptions are now filtered
through different colored glasses.

In that moment you learn
to listen to your heart.
You learn there is no shame
if you walk your own different path.

That’s the moment when you realize
that pain is your decision.
That you no longer
have to be or feel like a victim.

It is in that moment
that you know it’s time
to release someone and let them go
until they’re ready to return on their own.

That’s the moment when you know
that it’s really okay to love yourself.
The imperfections are uniquely you
and that is a celebration in itself.

It’s the moment that you realize
holding grudges are poison to your soul,
and that your failures, though painful,
are your greatest teachers and lessons.

It’s in that moment
that you understand
that no one else can really know
or understand your truth.

That’s the moment
that you begin to internalize
that there is no point or gain
in judging your fellow man.

It’s that rare moment
of clarity and inner peace;
a fleeting glimpse of what
your life was meant to be.

There comes a moment,
a turning point of sorts,
one that removes the veil of small and petty
and lets the majestic inside us shine through.

We all have a moment,
and sometimes more than one,
where we realize the reins are in our hands
and the direction we go is up to us.

It’s a moment of wisdom
A moment where we just “get”
that life is great,
and we don’t have to wait for anything else.

The only question left unanswered
to which only you can give the answer is,
“Do you grab this moment and learn to live it,
or do you continue to let your moments slip away?”

WASHINGTON, USA: Finding Home

WASHINGTON, USA: Finding Home

Tara B’s backyard bathed in unusual winter sunlight on Christmas Eve.

What is home? Everyone has different answers to this, but for me, home is tied to sensations. It’s a physical space that can conjure the feelings of nostalgia, warmth, comfort, and peace. When I think of the places I have truly called home, these feelings were always present.

In my life, I have traveled some but have lived in two states thus far: Pennsylvania and Washington. My parents still live in the house I grew up in in Northeastern Pennsylvania. And while I lived in Philadelphia before moving to Washington, my parents’ house will always be home. I spent 18 years there, creating memories good and bad, throughout my childhood. The furnishings may have changed, but the “home” is still there. I’m only able to visit my parents once a year right now, and it’s hard to describe the feeling I get just driving up the street to their house and walking through the door. The flood of memories and sensations is overwhelming. There, I connect to a part of me that I don’t connect with any place else. I am filled with nostalgia, warmth, comfort, and peace from a very specific time of my life. (more…)

Tara Bergman (USA)

Tara is a native Pennsylvanian who moved to the Seattle area in 1998 (sight unseen) with her husband to start their grand life adventure together. Despite the difficult fact that their family is a plane ride away, the couple fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and have put down roots. They have 2 super charged little boys and recently moved out of the Seattle suburbs further east into the country, trading in a Starbucks on every corner for coyotes in the backyard. Tara loves the outdoors (hiking, biking, camping). And, when her family isn't out in nature, they are hunkered down at home with friends, sharing a meal, playing games, and generally having fun. She loves being a stay-at-home mom and sharing her experiences on World Moms Network!

INDIA: Sahaj Marg Meditation and My Life

INDIA: Sahaj Marg Meditation and My Life

I came to Sahaj Marg before I was born. Well, as confusing as that statement may seem like, it is not. It has been the most startling revelation I have had over the past few years since I became a mother. When did I know my son? Of course, before he was born; when he was within me, a tiny cell; and I dare say, even before that, when conception was yet to take place.I always knew I would be a mother some day and be as loving and sacrificial and benevolent as my mother is. I knew my baby back then, I just had not met him. Similarly, I have not yet met God, but I am coming closer to doing so every day. Sahaj Marg, or “the natural path,” says God is within you; seek him there. And the only way you can do that is in silence. So, sit in silence, call it meditation if you want, feel that Godliness within you, hug it as close as possible and revel in it. It is very simple.

All wonderful things in life are very simple. I will not say if they are difficult or easy. Motherhood is simple and natural, though someone like me cannot claim it to be ‘easy’. But I am forever learning and rejoicing in my new found experiences and motherhood milestones. (more…)

ILLINOIS, USA: Free From Expectations and Recollections

My son recently celebrated his ninth birthday. Like most parents I delighted in giving him a special day and honoring him for the kid he is, the man he’ll become, and (with a feeling just-this-side of sadness) the little guy he once was.

He was once a little guy, it’s true. During the days preceding his birthday thoughts bubbled up from my memory, imprints from the little-guy-days, with a visceral intensity.

There they were: my first contractions, the evening ride downtown to the hospital, the delicate blue knit cap the nurse pulled onto his tiny head. The first feeding, then the first steps, the story of The Three Little Pigs announced in his little-guy-voice. The whole experience displayed in my mind’s eye and my tender heart.

It was my son’s whole experience but from my perspective, filtered through everything we’d shared together and also through the realities that had shaped me as a mom. (more…)

Saturday Sidebar: If you had one wish…

This week we asked our World Moms Blog writers,

“If a magic genie appeared and offered to grant you one wish in 2012, what would it be?”

Here’s what some of our World Moms are wishing for…

Maggie Ellison of South Carolina, USA writes:
“As long as we stay healthy, then I would like for my husband to be able to find a stable, secure job where he is happy and provides a decent living, so I can continue to stay home with my children, have the stability we have always wanted and not have to move again. Magic genie, come through for us, please.” (more…)
