On Monday, we will be in Mexico with Dee Harlow, who will soon be undertaking the next in a series of moves. Dee and her family move with the kind of regularity that would drive most of us round the bend, and she describes how they manage to keep getting their stuff from one place to another.
We have a guest post on Tuesday! Jennifer D’Ambrosio of New Jersey talks about an issue that many of us struggle with every single day: balancing life with a busy job, a long commute and motherhood!
On Wednesday, we head over to Illinois to hear from Polish Mama on the Prairie. She has lost of interesting stories to share about her escape from Communism as a baby, her role as Mom in a bicultural family, and her quest to keep her Polish heritage alive for her children.
And on Thursday, we will be in Massachusetts with Kyla P’an. Kyla talks about keeping our self-identity when we become parents, not losing our individuality to our roles as Moms and holding onto our own dreams and aspirations as we raise our kids.

Where in the world do you live? And, are you from there?
I live in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. I was born and raised in Ipoh, a smaller city about 135 miles north of KL (as it is affectionately known to locals).
What language(s) do you speak?
I speak English, Malay and Cantonese. I understand a smattering of Arabic, courtesy of my in laws who are originally from Libya.
When did you first become a mother?
In 2009, when I was 33.
Are you a stay-at-home mom or do you work?
I stay at home with my two sons, after a 10 year career in public relations, events management and marketing. (more…)
Alison is a former PR professional turned stay-at-home mother to two boys. Growing up in a small city of Ipoh, Malaysia, Alison left home at 17 to pursue her studies in the big city of Kuala Lumpur. At 19, she headed to University of Leeds in England and graduated with a degree in Communications. Returning home to Malaysia in 1999, she began a 10-year career in public relations, event planning, and marketing, working for various PR agencies and one of the world's biggest sports brands. After a decade of launch parties and product launches, concerts and award shows, international press junkets and world travel, Alison traded all that in for a life as a first time mother in 2009, and has not looked back since. Aside from writing for her blog, Writing, Wishing, Alison is the Founder and chief social media strategist for Little Love Media.

On Monday, we start the week in Minnesota with Galit Breen. Galit discusses a topic that was touched on here a couple of weeks ago that many people are all too afraid to open a dialogue about: race relations. Specifically, she talks about ways to educate our children about the differences between people.
On Tuesday, we will have our first post from Dr. Jeanelle Marshawn of Arizona. This busy mom of teenagers has lots of interesting stories to tell. She is fluent in American Sign Language, and she is endeavouring to make the world a better place through her non-profit teen foundation.
On Wednesday, we head on over to Massachusetts to hear from Courtney Cappallo. Courtney talks about a question that moms have agonized over since the dawn of time: how do you know when you’re done having kids?
And on Thursday, we will visit Amy Hillis in Ohio. It has been a while since we had a post from Amy because she’s had some very heavy loads to deal with in her life, and we are very happy to welcome her back. Last week she reintroduced herself in her writer’s interview. This week she will dive back in with a regular post. Welcome back, Amy!

A recent book, Battle Hymn of a Tiger Mother, about the Chinese-American method of raising children, almost caused a hurricane in the parenting world. Many were quick to defend their own parenting styles, some supported the author, Prof. Amy Chua, and yet ,others maintained their peace.
Parenting styles are so varied in different cultures. For instance, in my homeland, India, we don’t think much about teaching our kids a thing or two with a stick handy. It is supposed to be for their ‘own good’.
In schools, they may be subjected to the ‘cane treatment’ if they haven’t done their homework, for talking in class or for general misbehaviour. At home, their parents may give them a slap or two if they disobey. Even the elders in the family have every right to chastise the kids of the house. (more…)

On Monday we will celebrate American Independence Day in New Jersey with Jennifer Burden. Jennifer is the founder and editor-in-chief of World Moms Blog, and she talks about her Fourth of July celebrations, both past and present.
On Tuesday,we will be in Washington with Tara B., mom of two busy boys. Her story of getting her son ready for school in the morning is sure to make you both laugh and nod wisely with understanding. If you haven’t “been there” already, I can guarantee that at some point, you will be!
On Wednesday, we fly over to Norway to hear from Asta Burrows. Asta gives a bittersweet account of an upcoming transition in her child’s life, and gives us a reminder of how our kids grow up all too quickly.
And on Thursday, we stay international as we head to India, where Fire Crystals talks about one of those subjects that everyone seems to have a different opinion on: discipline. She discusses the cultural differences between East and West in a thought-provoking post.

Where in the world do you live? And, are you from there?
I live just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, USA. If you are familiar at all with the Boston Marathon, we’re half way in, half way out (13.1 mi from the start or finish line).
No, I’m not from here. I grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, an area known as the “Main Line.” But also in New England, where I spent my summers and attended boarding school from an early age. My husband and I met in Boston, moved to Washington, DC for a few years and then returned here for business school and to raise our kids.
What language(s) do you speak?
I speak English and Japanese. My husband and kids speak English and Mandarin Chinese. If I want to keep up, I better start learning Chinese soon or my two-year-old is going to start plotting cookie jar raids with his sister and I’ll never know! (more…)
Kyla was born in suburban Philadelphia but spent most of her time growing up in New England. She took her first big, solo-trip at age 14, when she traveled to visit a friend on a small Greek island. Since then, travels have included: three months on the European rails, three years studying and working in Japan, and nine months taking the slow route back from Japan to the US when she was done. In addition to her work as Managing Editor of World Moms Network, Kyla is a freelance writer, copy editor, recovering triathlete and occasional blogger. Until recently, she and her husband resided outside of Boston, Massachusetts, where they were raising two spunky kids, two frisky cats, a snail, a fish and a snake. They now live outside of Lisbon, Portugal with two spunky teens and three frisky cats.
