Travel Itinerary for the Week of September 10th!

We kick off this week in Canada on Monday, where Toronto mom Kirsten Doyle is wondering about how to approach one of the uglier aspects of parenting: keeping our kids safe from predators. How much do we tell them, and how do we answer questions we may not be quite prepared for?

On Tuesday, we head to India, where The Alchemist has a social good post for us. She talks about her ongoing journey of spiritualism and her quest for enlightenment through an organization that has some surprising similarities with World Moms Blog.

On Wednesday, we’re off to the Philippines to hear from Mrs. P. Cuyugan. She talks about the challenges of raising a child, working, and going to school, and describes how she’s managed to get by with a little help from her mother.

On Thursday we will be in Brazil with Eco Ziva, who is talking about prejudice. She tells us about the cultural implications of raising girls as compared with boys, and talks about how she is trying to teach her kids about tolerance.

On Friday we have a guest post! Chantal Hayes from North Carolina talks about her grief after a pregnancy loss, and how she is just not ready to move on.

On Saturday, check out the Saturday Sidebar with Purnima, where the World Moms give their thoughts on an important topic, and chime in with your answers to this week’s question!

Travel Itinerary for the Week of September 3rd!

On Monday, we start our week with a soothing post from Alison Lee, whose second son was born just four months ago. She loves the physical aspect of parenting – the cuddles and tickles, and she gives us a glimpse into her life with her boys.

On Tuesday we have a post from Polish Mom Photographer about her 365 Self Portrait mission she is on.  She shares some real-life moments that we can all relate to that she’s captured with her children. Come check it out!

Later on Tuesday we have a social good post from Third Eye Mom of Minnesota, who was recently at Capitol Hill speaking for millions of underprivileged people. She believes that all of us can make a difference, and here she tells us how.

On Wednesday we will be in Indonesia, where Tatter Scoops has been making great strides towards of a lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise. She wants to ingrain this in her son as well, and talks about how she hopes to encourage him in healthy choices.

On Thursday we head to Kenya to hear from Mama Mzungu. She gives an eye-opening account of some Kenyan cultural norms when it comes to raising children, and she asks the question: does anyone really have the right to judge how other cultures parent?

On Friday, we close off this globe-trotting week in Laos, with Dee Harlow, who has twin toddlers. The toddler years are a trying enough time for any parent, especially when said toddlers have just had to endure a move to the other side of the world. Dee shares some of the challenges of transition.

Travel Itinerary for the Week of August 27th!

On Monday we will be in lovely Cape Town, South Africa, with Mamma Simona. Simona has the kind of positive relationship with her children that makes her the envy of other parents of teens. She tells us what her secret is.

On Tuesday we head to Washington to hear from Tara B., who discusses the role of gender-based marketing in our children’s lives. Would you buy your boy something that would typically be used by a girl, and vice versa? Tara tells us her views and how she handles it with her own child.

Next up also on Tuesday is a post from Elizabeth Atalay about a women from Rhode Island who began her own non-profit and is helping to provide food to people who need it most in Africa.  An inspiring story!

On Wednesday, we’re off to Egypt, where Nihad talks about a dilemma she faced in the raising of her children. How would she balance discipline with love? Was she going to be critical of every mistake her children made, or was she going to focus on encouraging them to value themselves?

On Thursday, we’re back in the United States with Illinois mom Jill Barth. This mom talks about the dilemma faced by many moms who work outside of the home, and whether we are sending our kids the rights messages about the way the world is supposed to be.

We end this multinational week in France, with a post from Lady Jennie, and her topic is vacationing with children.

Travel Itinerary for Week of August 13th!

On Monday we will be in South Korea, where Ms. V talks about what it’s like to be a single mother there. It’s an interesting insight into the cultural impacts not only to the mother, but to the child and the mother’s entire family.

On Tuesday, we continue the discussion about single parenthood in Nevada, where Roxanne’s son seems to be very accepting of her boyfriend. A little bit too accepting, perhaps? Roxanne contemplates what it would mean if her current relationship were to become “the one”.

Later that day, we head to Canada where Travel Lady with Baby, who formerly worked for the Canadian Foreign Service on an UN file, gives us insight into the United Nations and human rights in our World Voice column.  World Voice is a new column, which combines our posts on social good and human rights!

On Wednesday, we are off to New Zealand, where you are bound to be near water, no matter where you are. Karyn van der Zwet regards swimming as an essential life skill, one that she wants her children to have as second nature.

On Thursday, we have a guest post! Holly Pavlika of MOMentum in New York describes her daughter’s experiences with being bullied, and how she, as a parent, has handled it. She also offers some great safety tips that we can use for the benefit of our own kids.

On Friday, we head to Massachusetts, where Kyla P’an talks about a question of identity. What is it like for this generation of moms to find out who they are, or who they’ve become, after raising children?

Travel Itinerary for the Week of August 6th!

On Monday we celebrate this warm North American summer by talking about vacations! Angela Y. in California talks about a special kind of vacation shared with extended family spanning multiple generations.

On Tuesday, we continue to talk travel with Kristen Kolb, who recently relocated from Switzerland to the United States. She is used to picking up roots and moving, but it is an adjustment for her family. She gives us tips for helping kids cope with big changes.

On Wednesday, we will be in New York, where Maman Aya talks about sports, in true Olympic spirit. She ponders the question of whether she is ever likely to be the parent of an Olympic champion, how she would cope with that, and how do we find and nurture our children’s true talents?

On Thursday, we head to Canada to hear from Travel Lady with Baby, who lost her father as a young woman and wants to honour his memory and keep him alive for her child. In this poignant post, she tells us how she has been doing that.

On Friday, we go to Egypt, where Nihad is celebrating Ramadan. She explains what the meaning of Ramadan is and how it is observed.

On Monday we head to China to hear from Taryn @ Mamas Got Wanderlust. She tells us a heartbreaking story of how a woman’s rights were violated in the name of public policy.

On Wednesday, we will be in Australia, where Fiona @ Inspiration to Dream ponders whether we as a society are neglecting to teach our kids basic life skills like cooking, cleaning and changing a tire. Are we fostering too much reliance on Googled instructions?

On Thursday, we fly to Texas to hear from Diana @ Hormonal Imbalances. This mom thought that working at home would allow her to spend time with her daughter, but she found it difficult to get anything done! Come read about how she solved her problem.
