My Walking Heart

This week’s Saturday Question comes from World Moms Blog writer Maggie Ellison.  She asked our writers,

What has been the best part of parenting so far?”

Check out what some of our World Moms had to say…

Dr. Lanham of Arizona, USA writes:
“The best part of parenting for me has been to hear my boys tell me they appreciate HOW I’ve raised them. Let’s me know they were listening! 🙂 ”

Maggie Ellison of South Carolina, USA writes:
“The unconditional love that I have for my children is more than I could ever express in words. Life without them is impossible for me. I thought I knew, but I didn’t know how intense that love would be when I actually had my own children. It is amazing, wonderful and such a gift. I am so grateful.”

Multitasking Mumma of Ontario, Canada writes:
“So far the best part is the overwhelming, protective love I feel for another person.”

Ruth Wong of Singapore writes:
“Parenting is probably one of the greatest challenges I’ve embarked on, in my life. But it has also opened up a whole new dimension in my life that wasn’t there before. There are so many things which I love about parenting, and I think one of the best parts is to experience joy like I’ve never felt before — you know, the kind of special joy that touches the deepest part of your soul and stays in your heart for a long, long time. And the amazing thing is, such joy comes from some of the ‘simplest’ moments, such as the first time my son calls me “mama”, when he plants tiny kisses on my cheeks or wraps his tiny arms around my neck and gives me a hug”

Simona from South Africa writes:
“The best part of parenting, for me, is learning as much from my children as they learn from me! I can honestly say that I have become a better person as they (and I) have grown through the inevitable challenges of life. I feel extremely blessed to be able to sit here and type that I have been married for 20 years and am the proud mother of an 18 year old son and a 15 year old daughter… especially as I was originally told I’d be unable to bear children! 🙂 To sum up (imho) the best part of parenting is the whole challenging yet ultimately exhilarating journey!”

The Alchemist of India writes:
“I cannot name one single best part of parenting so far, and I only have a five year old son. I thought the best part was the joy I felt, when he took his first steps, then I thought, it was way back when he called me ‘amma’ for the first time, then I thought it was way way back when I saw him for the first time in the hospital a few minutes into his birth. And I kept thinking and reminiscing about all the best parts of the parenting journey so far. It is a joyful, educative, and wonderful experience. In the ancient Indian scriptures, they say, a woman is incomplete until she becomes a mother, I now know why! (No offence intended to those wonderful woman who choose to not have kids. This is just my own personal opinion).”

Jennifer Burden of New Jersey, USA says:

“Watching my girls develop their own interests and seeing them run with them and seeing their personalities blossom.  It is so awesome to get a little glimpse into the women they will become one day!”

ThirdEyeMom of Minnesota, USA writes:
“The best part of parenting is knowing that I would give my life up for these two young people whom I love with all my heart and treasure beyond belief. Watching them grow, learn about the world, learn to read and smile makes my day.”

Salma of Ontario, Canada writes:
“The best part of parenting so far, is watching the kids apply what they have learned from us in their daily lives.”

What about you… What has been the best part of parenting so far?
