On Monday we’re going to talk about manners! Courtney Cappallo in Massachusetts is dismayed at how rude and impatient people are, and she has some creative ideas for teaching her own kids how to be polite.
On Tuesday, we are heading to Oregon for a guest post from Sara Padilla. She is trying to raise children who are grateful for what they have, and she ponders the challenges of doing this in today’s society.
On Wednesday, we’re going to Brazil, where Eco Ziva talks about something that is so difficult to practice: environmentally friendly parenting. She tells us what she struggles with the most, and how she feels it can be rectified.

“I don’t want to do that.” She says, meeting my eyes through impossibly long lashes. Her look, direct, strong and almost fierce, isn’t disrespectful. I can’t quite place my finger on what it is, but it pulls at my heartstrings.
I smile her way, touch her shoulder, lean closer. “You have to try.” I whisper, “And we can talk about it after.” She looks down, slumps. Not the reaction I was going for. (more…)
Once upon a time Galit Breen was a TRAVELER. She met amazing people and ate delicious food. And all was well with the world. And then, she started her real life. She became a STUDENT earning a BS in Human Development and an MA in Education. She became a classroom and reading TEACHER. She met a man on the internet (when it was gasp-worthy and new) and became his WIFE. She became a MINNESOTAN shortly after that, and he still owes her one for that. But the biggest earthquake shake to her soul was becoming a MOM. The interrupted sleep. The crying. The diapers. The lack of sleep. Did she mention the lack of sleep? But there was also the attachment, the touch, the bungee cords to her heart. Sigh. So today her labels are woven together. Tightly. A wife of one! A Mama of three! And a brand new puggle owner! Of one, people. Just one new puppy, thankyouverymuch. To keep her grounded and to add to the lack of lack of sleep factor, she writes. She writes about Motherhood. Parenting. Spirituality. Feminism. Education. Books. Writing. Balance. And Chocolate. Her writing is sometimes sarcastic, sometimes heart-warming and always transparent. This week the writers and editors of World Moms Blog are taking a much-deserved break.
There is a lot happening at this time of the year. Those in North America are observing Canada Day and the Fourth of July. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is summertime – and a hot one too! Many schools are out for the summer holidays and people are going away for vacations and long weekends. Our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are bundling up and turning on their heaters as they go through their winter.
For the week of July 2nd, we at World Moms Blog will be taking a time-out to focus on whatever is happening in our necks of the woods. We will be back in full force the week of July 9th. Check back on Saturday, July 7th for the next travel itinerary!

On Monday meet us in the Middle East, where we’ll go to Tel-Aviv, Israel to talk about different thoughts on, as Susie calls it, “bad mothering.” Susie felt conflicted about going on a brief vacation and seeing her grown son in the hospital for an ear infection. Are there times when you felt like a bad mother, but knew that you had to choose to do something for yourself?
On Tuesday, we’re off to Asia, where we meet up with Ms. V, our resident yogi, in South Korea. Her post is titled, “Raising the F Word”, and in it she’s hot on the topic of feminism and teaching it to our daughters and sons. And why being a feminist is so important to her. This is one for the Human Rights column!
On Wednesday, meet us in Capetown, South Africa! Mamma Simona discusses the stereotypes surrounding a “Mama’s Boy” and a “Daddy’s Girl”. Her children have broke the molds! Would you say that your child connects more with you, or your partner?
