Travel Itinerary for the Week of January 16th!

This week we start off with Dee Harlow, who currently resides in Virginia. How many of us stopped working when we had our kids, and several years later went through the angst of re-entering the workforce? This mom is preparing to take the plunge!

On Tuesday, we’ll be in Malaysia with Alison Lee. Many of us have family traditions – little things we do that are meaningful to us in some way. Alison tells us about the role she would like family traditions to have in her life.

Put your thinking caps on, because on Wednesday we are launching another caption contest! Come see what Animated Woman has in store for us! Also, we will announce the winner of the last caption contest!

On Thursday, we head off to Indonesia, where Tatter Scoops addresses an important subject. Is it ever OK to stigmatize women based on what they wear? And how do we teach our children to grow up with respect for the opposite gender in a world full of sexual discrimination and stereotypes?

On Friday, we stay international as we go to Japan to hear from Hamakko Mommy. As many of us start to break re-evaluate our New Years Resolutions, this mom tells us how they ring in the New Year in Japan.

On Saturday, check out the Saturday Sidebar with Eva Fannon, where the World Moms give their thoughts on an important topic, and chime in with your answers to the week’s question!

ARIZONA, USA: Doing the Same Thing, Expecting Different Results

Happy New Year Moms! Can you believe it’s 2012? last year just flew by and some of it seems like a blur. We all had our ups and downs last year but we made it through. What didn’t kill us made us stronger Right? Right! We all want better than we had, which is why we continue to make ‘New Years Resolutions.’

Every NEW year we set resolutions hoping that we will ‘resolve’ whatever it was in the prior year we didn’t handle; we want to stop smoking, exercise more, be nicer and accomplish goals.

We all want a better year than the last. Resolutions are made because it is our plan to follow through, to actually accomplish them THIS time.

We want something different to occur in our lives but we keep doing the SAME things, expecting different results; that’s called insanity.

Most of the time we make resolutions out of emotions; we think back on what we didn’t accomplish and (more…)

ILLINOIS, USA: Don’t Dread the Routine

Vacation ends.

Call it the weekend-phenomenon.  Good things seem to wrap up just as they are getting started. It’s the truth, and it hurts, but it wouldn’t be vacation if it went on forever.

Boo.

A friend writes on Facebook:

Every morning during our break, our little boy has woken us up with a long snuggle and a game of “Cars Memory” (or two, or three) in bed. I am desperately going to miss this morning ritual when we go back to our working reality tomorrow. I have decided I want to be a millionaire so that we can all just stay home like this together forever. Any ideas? (more…)

WASHINGTON, USA: My Inner Domestic Goddess Emerges

Back in March of 2011, I wrote a post for World Moms Blog titled “Searching for My Inner Domestic Goddess,” which detailed my numerous shortcomings in the traditional homemaking department. Since writing that post, I have spent some time trying to broaden my domestic horizons, specifically in the kitchen, and I am pleased to report that I no longer think I can accurately claim “I can’t cook.”

Now, I am not great. Not by any stretch. I make many meals that could be described as edible at best. But I am learning and have successfully pulled off some new dishes. Check out this root vegetable pie! (more…)

Tara Bergman (USA)

Tara is a native Pennsylvanian who moved to the Seattle area in 1998 (sight unseen) with her husband to start their grand life adventure together. Despite the difficult fact that their family is a plane ride away, the couple fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and have put down roots. They have 2 super charged little boys and recently moved out of the Seattle suburbs further east into the country, trading in a Starbucks on every corner for coyotes in the backyard. Tara loves the outdoors (hiking, biking, camping). And, when her family isn't out in nature, they are hunkered down at home with friends, sharing a meal, playing games, and generally having fun. She loves being a stay-at-home mom and sharing her experiences on World Moms Network!

Travel Itinerary for the Week of January 9th!

Happy New Year and welcome back to our writers and our readers!

We are starting off our first blogging week of 2012 in South Africa, where Mamma Simona talks about New Years resolutions. Do you make them? Do you keep them? This mom tells us her own views and the circumstances in her life that caused her to re-evaluate her priorities.

On Tuesday, we’re in Washington with Tara B., who a while ago entertained us with a post about her quest for domesticity. Now, she tells us how she is finding her inner domestic goddess as she starts to conjure up some delicious meals.

On Tuesday evening, we have a social good post from Nicole @ Third Eye Mom. She talks about fundraising for Nepal and the Shot@Life campaign.

On Wednesday, we head off to Europe, where A Lady In France tells us about her first post-partum OB/GYN appointment. Some aspects of French culture that she discusses may surprise you – only in France!

On Thursday, Jill Barth in Illinois reflects on the fact that after spending treasured time together over the holiday season, families all over the world are returning to their regular routines. She gives us some great pointers on how we can cope with the return to normality, and how we can avoid the let-down that so often happens after a great time.

On Friday, we are in Arizona, where Dr. Jeanelle tells us that there are ways to make New Years resolutions that are achievable. She gives us pointers on how we can set our goals going into 2012, and more important, how we can stick to them.

On Saturday, check out the Saturday Sidebar with Eva Fannon, where the World Moms give their thoughts on an important topic, and chime in with your answers to the week’s question!

Saturday Sidebar: If you had one wish…

This week we asked our World Moms Blog writers,

“If a magic genie appeared and offered to grant you one wish in 2012, what would it be?”

Here’s what some of our World Moms are wishing for…

Maggie Ellison of South Carolina, USA writes:
“As long as we stay healthy, then I would like for my husband to be able to find a stable, secure job where he is happy and provides a decent living, so I can continue to stay home with my children, have the stability we have always wanted and not have to move again. Magic genie, come through for us, please.” (more…)
