Did you enjoy reading about different cultures of parenting in our Link-up last week? Thanks to everyone who participated! Now, let’s get ready for another exciting week!
On Monday, we will be in Arkansas, welcoming back Margie Bryant, who had to take a break for a while. Margie tells us about her mother, who has overcome many hardships in her life and sounds like a pretty amazing person!
On Tuesday we head out to California to hear from Angela Y. In a post that reminds us why moms really are super-heroes, she gives an account of a day in the life of a mom – all before 9:00 a.m.!
On Wednesday, we will be in Washington talking about religion! Tara B. talks about the role religion plays in her life, and what influence she sees it having on her children as they grow up.
On Thursday, grab your passport, because we’re off to Australia! Fiona at Inspiration To Dream ponders the question of whether we sometimes over-parent our kids? Are we equipping them to fight their battles and deal with some of life’s less pleasant aspects? Or are we wrapping them in cotton wool to their detriment?
And on Friday, we will be traveling to Canada to hear from Kirsten Doyle, who writes a special post for Remembrance Day (Veterans Day in the United States). Kirsten takes the role of veterans in our society very seriously, and talks about the importance of preserving history for our children.
We have lots of extras this week! On Monday, World Moms Blog founder Jennifer Burden will post a link to a post on By Word Of Mouth Musings, and on Wednesday evening she will share with us a social good post for the Million Moms Challenge.
In writer interviews this week, we will hear from Kristen Kolb of Switzerland on Tuesday, and Ruth Wong from Singapore on Thursday.
This week, we will have a special edition of the Saturday Sidebar dedicated to World Pneumonia Day.

I feel too young to be a nana. Nanas or grandmas, whatever you choose to call them, are old and grey – in my mind anyway. My grandmothers were both old and grey, and I loved them both dearly when they were alive.
One was a “nanny” and one was a “jonnie” (a name that stuck when one of my cousins was unable to pronounce grandma). One lived in Portland,Oregon in the USA, and the other lived on the east coast of Australia. In other words, they were both long distance grandparents. I hated that they were both so far away.
I became a nani on the 27th June of this year, yet I don’t feel old, and I’m not grey (a few strands don’t count do they?). (more…)
Fiona at Inspiration to Dream is a married mother of three amazing and talented MM’s (mere males, as she lovingly calls them) aged 13, 16 and 22, and she became a nana in 2011!
She believes she’s more daunted by becoming a nana than she was about becoming a mother! This Aussie mother figures she will also be a relatively young nana and she’s not sure that she’s really ready for it yet, but then she asks, are we ever really ready for it? Motherhood or Nanahood. (Not really sure that’s a word, but she says it works for her.)
Fiona likes to think of herself as honest and forthright and is generally not afraid to speak her mind, which she says sometimes gets her into trouble, but hey, it makes life interesting. She’s hoping to share with you her trials of being a working mother to three adventurous boys, the wife of a Mr Fix-it who is definitely a man’s man and not one of the ‘sensitive new age guy’ generation, as well as, providing her thoughts and views on making her way in the world.
Since discovering that she’s the first blogger joining the team from Australia, she also plans to provide a little insight into the ‘Aussie’ life, as well. Additionally, Fiona can be found on her personal blog at Inspiration to Dream.

On Monday we will be in Australia where Fiona @ Inspiration To Dream talks about her entry into a whole new phase of parenting: becoming a grandparent for the first time! She talks about her anxieties and her joys as her grandson made his way into the world.
On Tuesday, we are in Canada with Vancouver mom Carol @ If By Yes. Carol is a former dog trainer, and has been discovering that babies can be trained in much the same way as animals! An interesting little snippet about her is that she is known for wearing inside-out underwear!
We stay in Canada on Wednesday, to hear from new writer Salma. Salma tells us an absolutely heart-wrenching story about a little crack baby who touched her life and her soul. You may want to stock up on the tissues before you read this one.
On Thursday we head south of the border to Massachusetts to hear from our interview editor, Kyla P’an. Kyla is well-traveled, has two gorgeous children and manages to be a stay-at-home mom while pursuing freelance writing.
On Friday Eva Fannon leads us in the Friday Question. Be sure to check it out and chime in with your answers!
In writer interviews, will hear from two new writers this week! On Tuesday we will get to know Twinmom112 from Pennsylvania, and on Thursday we hear from Maureen from Indonesia.

When Germaine Greer wrote The Female Eunuch, at the height of The Feminist Revolution, she suggested that motherhood should not be considered a substitute to a career. By the time she wrote The Whole Woman in 1999, she had done a complete 180 degree turn and called for proper state-funding for Stay at Home Mums.
She realised full-time mothering is as valuable to many women as being in paid work. She also realised there were benefits to society as a whole.
Children who feel well attached to their mothers do better at life. They make better decisions; they chose more mature friends and partners, and their relationships are more likely to last; they have a work ethic which is balanced with a sense of play; they are physically healthier and they have a stronger sense of community. And becoming properly attached takes intense commitment from one main carer for a long time. (more…)

We start off the week in New Zealand with Karyn Van Der Zwet of Kloppenmum. (Yay — she’s back!) Karyn talks about attachment parenting and discusses the direction in which societal roles are changing for mothers. A very interesting read!
On Tuesday, we head south of the border to hear from Eva Fannon of Washington, USA. She tells us about a 24 hour trip to New York — it must have been nice to have some alone time!
Then, board a long haul flight with us to East Timor on Wednesday! Shaula Bellour is our mom of twins who has told us before that she has to look out for things like crocodiles in everyday life!
Thursday, we’re in Canada! Here, Robin of “Farewell, Stranger” is our mom who writes inspiring stories about her experiences with Post Partum Depression. Did you know she was asked to speak at a blogging conference in 2012? Check out her blog for more upcoming details!

Where in the world do you live? And, are you from there?
I live in Adelaide, which is the capital city of South Australia. I was born in a small country town called Inverell in New South Wales, which is on the east coast of Australia. We moved around a lot when I was a child because of my father’s work, moving to Perth, the capital of Western Australia when I was 5 and then several years later to Kalgoorlie which is a mining town 700km north-east of Perth. From Kalgoorlie we moved to Adelaide when I was 13, and I’ve been here ever since.
I attended four different primary schools and two different high schools, yet in contrast, my children all live in the house they were born in. (more…)
